About Trip

One of the most popular treks in the Annapurna Region is Annapurna Base Camp. It is less strenuous than the Annapurna Circuit in terms of length and maximum altitude (4130m). It can be done comfortably in seven days, although there is the possibility of adding various extensions for those wishing to have a longer trek. The trek offers a wide variety of scenic and climatic experiences, ranging from lush rhododendron forests to high-altitude landscapes. Annapurna Base Camp itself is unforgettable, set amid the peaks of Annapurna I (8091m), Annapurna South (7219 m), Macchapuchchre (6993m) and Huinchuli (6441m). Let Search Treks & Expedition tailor the itinerary to your expectations and objectives

  • Day 02Time to relax, trip briefing and shopping for equipmentAfter a relaxing breakfast, you will have a trip briefing and a check on your equipment. There will be ample opportunities to buy any missing items and to stock up on personal things like candies and snacks. Time permitting, it may also be possible to explore the old market area of Asan Tolle with its central Annapurna Shrine: why not say a prayer to Annapurna, the goddess of prosperity and charity, and ask for her blessings before setting off on your own Annapurna adventure?
  • Day 03 Fly or drive to Pokhara (820m)Depending on your choice, you will be picked up by your guide and either transferred to the airport for the short flight to Pokhara or escorted to the pickup point for the luxury tourist bus. The flight will allow time for exploring in Pokhara, possibly including the World Peace Pagoda, while the bus, with its opportunities for a more down-to-earth experience of Nepal, will arrive in the late afternoon.
Tip: You can leave the belongings you don’t need on the trek in the safe-keeping of your hotel.
  • Day 04Jeep to Jhinu New Bridge 2 - 3 hrs. (1340m): Trek to Sinuwa 4 - 5 hrs. (2340m)This morning after breakfast, we travel by private jeep from Pokhara to Jhinu New Bridge, with wonderful views along the way of the Annapurna range. We will have a short refreshment break in Jhinu Danda, and then our trek starts! There are many steps along the path up to Chomrong, a 1½- to 2-hour climb at a steady pace. We have lunch there, admiring the views of South Annapurna, Hiunchuli and other magnificent peaks. After lunch, we walk through the traditional Gurung village of Chomrong, with its picturesque old houses, before continuing to Sinuwa, where we stay overnight, surrounded by mountains and enveloped in serenity.
  • Day 05 Trek to Deurali 6-7 hrs. (3230m) After a good night’s sleep and a hearty breakfast, we leave Sinuwa. An interesting fact is that from Sinuwa onwards, a community forest area, there is a ban on the keeping and slaughtering of animals: meat is brought in from lower areas. Our path takes us through bamboo groves and rhododendron forests, which are beautiful when in full bloom in Springtime! The trees and flowers take the place of mountain views during this part of our trek, as we follow the Modi Khola. We have a tea-break at a small settlement called Bamboo, before going on to our lunch stop at the idyllic Himalaya village. On the way up to our destination for the day, Deurali, we pass rocky cliffs and waterfalls, plus a temple to the Hindu goddess Parvati and Hinku Cave.
  • Day 06 Trek to Macchapuchchre Base Camp 3 - 4 hrs. (3700m)On this day we have the excitement of going to Macchapuchchre Base Camp (MBC), the trail taking us very close to glaciers and the mountains. Macchapuchchre, or Fishtail, is undoubtedly the most distinctive peak in the Annapurna range, due to its easily recognizable silhouette. Known as the ‘Matterhorn of Nepal’, it is regarded as a holy mountain and is termed a ‘virgin peak’, as it has never been summitted. The accommodation at MBC is surprisingly comfortable, with internet access and, of course the views are stunning and unforgettable!
  • Day 07 Trek to Annapurna Base Camp 2 - 3 hrs. (4130m)Today we reach our ultimate goal: Annapurna Base Camp (ABC), with its iconic sign. We go slowly as the altitude increases and breathing becomes a little more difficult. If we are fortunate, we will experience the mesmerizing sunset view, and maybe even a glorious sunrise the following morning! This is definitely a place to take your time, take photos and soak up the unforgettable experience.
  • Day 08 Trek down to Himalaya 4 - 5 hrs. (2900m)After taking yet more souvenir photos, today we say goodbye to ABC and start to retrace our steps back down. ABC is a one-way trail so there is no alternative but to U-turn. However, descending presents us with a different experience and a different perspective on the scenery, so there is still much to enjoy!
  • Day 09 Trek down to Chomrong 5 - 6hrs. (2170m)This day is also mainly a downward trail, with the opportunity to stop for Himalayan coffee and cakes at the German Bakery. We have lunch at Sinuwa and get more energy from trekking on level ground for a while. As we leave Sinuwa and continue down, we feel that we are saying a final goodbye to the Annapurna mountains. We stay overnight in Chomrong. The village has a Women’s Group which can arrange a culture show, with local singing and dancing, on request. All donations made will be used to help people in need in the community or to support building projects.
  • Day 10 Trek down to New Bridge 2 hrs. (1340m): jeep to Pokhara Today, our final day of trekking, we can take advantage of there being hot springs down by the river, a 30-to-40-minute one-way walk down from Jhinu. This is a wonderful opportunity to soak and relax before we leave this amazing area and return to civilization in Pokhara.
  • Day 11 Contingency day to add in case of need at any point in the above itineraryIf the contingency day has not been needed at any point in the above itinerary for illness, accidents or additional acclimatization, the itinerary will be adjusted by adding a full day trek from Chomrong to the famous village of Ghandruk on Day 10, passing through Kimrong Khola. This will enable you to have a final experience of Annapurna peaks and villages. On the morning before the drive back to Pokhara, you will be able to explore all the nooks and crannies of picturesque Ghandruk.
  • Day 12Flight Pokhara to KathmanduYou can spend a few hours at leisure in the morning, looking around Pokhara’s famous Lakeside area, before heading to the airport for the short flight back to Kathmandu. After transferring back to your hotel, you are at leisure to relax, freshen up and recall all the memories of your ABC trek!
  • Day 13 Sight seeing in and around Kathmandu + Farewell dinner Today is a chance to explore some of Kathmandu’s best-loved sights, like the sacred Buddhist stupas of Swayambunath and Boudhanath. And, of course, there will be opportunities for shopping for souvenirs for yourself, family and friends. In the evening, you will have a farewell dinner with your guide and the MD of Search Treks & Expedition, who will present you with a certificate of achievement for reaching your target, Annapurna Base Camp.
  • Day 14 for departure flightFinally, it is time to leave your hotel, Kathmandu and Nepal. You will be transferred to the airport for your international flight back home. Search Treks hopes that you have had an unforgettable time…and that you will come back again in the future!
